Ingrid Tobiasson, mezzo-soprano, debuted as Amneris in Aida at Folkoperan and sang early Rosina in The Barber in Seville and Maddalena in Rigoletto. She was employed at the Royal Opera from 1988 and has sung a large number of roles; Carmen, Elisabetta in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, Santuzza In Sicily, Ortrud in Lohengrin, Amneris in Aida and Kundry in Parsifal. In the repertoire, Ingrid also has done Brigitta in Die tote Stadt, Adalgisa in Norma, Fricka in Das Rheingold. In addition to the opera houses in Sweden, Ingrid has visited Deutsche Oper in Berlin, the Brussels Opera and the Frankfurt Opera House on several occasions. At Malmö Opera, she has previously sung Isabella in Italienskan in Algiers and Amneris in Aida Other engagements: Among others Maddalena (Verdi's Rigoletto, Norrland Opera), Isabella (Rossini's Italian in Algiers, Malmö Opera), Rosina (Rossini's Barber in Seville, Folk Opera), Idamante (Mozart's Idomeneo Drottningholm's Castle Theater), Fidès (Meyerbeer's Prophet, Vasan / OperaVerket), Amneris (Aida, Malmö Opera and Music Theater, also guest performances in Dalhalla), Klytaimnestra (Elektra, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Rouen and the Frankfurt Opera). In recent years, Ingrid Tobiasson has added to her already extensive opera repertoire roles such as Birgitta in Die Tote Stadt, the World House Hostess in Boris Godunov, Adalgisa in Norma, Fricka in Das Rheingold. In 1998 she also sang Adalgisa in guest performances at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin. She has had great success as Klytämnestra in Elektra and Eboli in Don Carlos at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. She played the role of Klytämnestra in a production at the Theater de la Monnaie in Brussels in 2002. She is a frequent guest of the leading orchestras in Scandinavia and Finland and she sings most alto and mezzo-soprano parts from Handel's Messiah to Mahler's eighth Symphony. Ingrid was awarded the Litteris et Artibus 2020 and will now receive the medal in 2021 from the King's hand.
Recently she was in Oslo Opera to perform Filipjevna in Eugen Onegin but the perfomances get cancelled because of a strike and it will come on stage again in winter 2023. In 2023 she went back to Oslo Opera to perform Filipjevna in Eugen Onegin.
